Why So Serious?
First thought? What a crazy site (this Tiltviewer is new to me.) Second thought? (Frustration sets in—just a little.) How the f*$# do I work this thing? First action? Start clicking! Then it all starts to make sense. Not only can I click from one to the next, bringing them forward to view them up close, but I can flip them over to read the info on the back as well. Pricing, shipping, etc. It’s all there.
So. The Secret Life of Toys. Now that I’ve established that I can work the Tiltviewer and I’ve also found a much easier way to view a few pics (www.thesecretlifeoftoys.etsy.com), what do I think of the actual photo-art? Amusing (“Me Hearties”, “Secrets”, and especially the one entitled “Why So Serious? I Just Want to Shoot You”), fun, and worth a gander. The skilful photography is admirable (I especially like the use of aperture settings to create blurring of desired areas and I’m fond of the aging effect in “What a Trooper.”) Strategically hanging a bunch of them together would make for an entertaining gallery for a contemporary minimalist home, in a very white bathroom or a hallway wall blank of all other art.
