Vee Speers-’The Birthday Party’ Series

Vee Speers is an Australian photographer who was influenced by a children’s fancy dress up party to do this series, entitled ‘The Birthday Party’.  These images make me squirm, she purposely over matures the children in their attire, expressions, and props to portrait a sense of adulthood coming to soon for our kids.  They immediately reminded me of that horror movie Village of the Damned where the kids were little aliens posing and human kids ( I shudder).  Speers previous works include fashion photography and photojournalism in Paris, as well as working for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
