It’s hard to put your finger on the work of Pedro Paricio. Born and raised in the Canary Islands you can clearly see in the influence in his paintings through the use of bright and bold colors and also through the subject material- each painting regardless of how abstract the setting, seems to bring the observer to a tropical island. But his work has much more to it. There seems to be a slight influence of impressionism with some of the brush strokes thrown into his work, as well as an influence of folk art with his story telling methods and use of perspective and volume. And of course, what is clear, is that he seems to have a style all his own in the way each one of these parts of him is “cut” up and thrown back together in what appears to be a controlled chaos.
