The Sandman
September 16th, 2009

If you’re anyone who’s anyone you should know who this is a picture of before continuing on. I’ll give you a wee hint, “My precious.”
Oh little Gollum from Lord of the Rings. Heaven forbid that the sandman actually resembled a shrivelled-up hobbit gone bad. I don’t think I would be too keen on the idea of him putting sand in my eyes in order for me to fall asleep. This post however isn’t about that kind of sandman. Sandman Jamie Wardley has bigger talents that won’t put you to sleep.
An artist that’s great with his hands and a shovel, Wardley creates amazing sand sculptures. Many of his sculptures are made with water, building sand (sturdier than sand you find on your beach down the street) and plenty of good vibrations to compact everything together. From there the sculpting ensues and well the result becomes a masterpiece.
If you’re interested in scooping up some artistry of your own, check out his site for information of sand drawing workshops.

Cheers Mari, thanks for the blog, I just came back from Finland where I made a sculpture called the ‘nest’ in snow. 1st prize. Look on my blog page of the website for pictures. I don’t know why I went to Finland though, it’s cold enough here right now!
Thanks
Jamie
