To this young artist a portrait is not a representation of somebody since it only portraits a mere moment of a person that exists through time, however, Nick Lepard definitely has the ability to intrigue a viewer with his raw portraits. He gained notoriety in Vancouver with his large-scale self-portraits and portraits of friends. Born in 1983, this Vancouver artist accomplished his first solo exhibition fresh out of school in 2008 at the Diane Farris Gallery, a gallery that has been representing Lepard since the summer of 2006 when he had his first group exhibition. On April 8, 2009, NYC’s The New Museum began its new signature triennial exhibition entitled  The Generational: Younger Than Jesus. The one of a kind exhibition, which runs through July 5, 2009, is inspired by the fact that some of the  most influential art ever made has come at the beginning of young artists’ careers. For that reason it is displaying approximately 145 works from 50 artists, all under the age of 33. The artists represent a total of 25 countries and just as diversely, the mediums range from painting, to video games ,to installation, and cover everything in between.
