Macro photography, simply put, is the art of capturing extremely-close up images of a subject, any subject. It can be used to expose details unseen to the natural eye, to distort what we normally see in large scale, or to create something totally new out of various materials. Louise Loveridge is appealing to the little kid in all of us who sat at tables dipping our fingertips in melted wax from tealights. A relatively unknown artist, she has released a series of photographs constructed by dipping wool and other materials into wax and photographing them. Her created forms vary from being seemingly crystallic to fallic to insect-like, and the photos are an abstract treat for the eyes.
