thomas allen 20 300x400 The Books Are Alive!

This is genius. Thomas Allen uses cut-outs from old book covers, arranged in a cinematic pop-up confection, tape, imagination, lighting , and his trusty lense to bring scenes formerly intended to play out solely in the mind of readers to life.

“Do you ever wonder if your shadow is playing tricks on you behind your back?” Greenpoint NYC Photographer Katie Sokoler does. And she took action on the idea by carefully tracing and cutting out shadows, pasting them on random walls around town, and waiting with her camera for the money shots-when an anonymous person

He tops it off with portraits of our favorite characters in classics-to-be The Dark Night and There Will Be Blood.  Also sprinkled in his collection are themed collage- [ Continue Reading ]

livestrong james jean 08 James Jean is ArtStrong

That’s James Jean. His artistry is more lethal than cancer. That’s why Lance Armstrong’s Livestrong Foundation has tapped him to help raise awereness by creating one of a series of yellow chalk pieces that will be peppered throughout the streets of L.A. Jean’s ethereal creation for the project looks very much like triumph over a monster. (to me anyway, because flowers and monsters go to together, duh) It sits at the Venice Boardwalk. 08neighborhood iLegoIf you are from New York City, or have ever visited New York City, I think you will appreciate Christoph Niemann’s latest blog. Currently living in Berlin, Niemann says that on cold days he started playing with his boys’ Legos and began to sculpt mini homage’s to all things NYC.  You can check out his complete collection in the New York Times HERE. Below, I have sampled some of my personal favorites.
