bag 1 The Gentlemens League

Men’s fashion tends to be complacent in its easy formulaic sophistication, and sometimes truly unique items are different to find.  In a stroke of genius, The Gentlemen’s League stands for making only unique men’s accessories.  Founded in 2008 by artist Adam Razak and industrial designer Seth Stevens, the League’s only product is the Signature Bag – a custom and hand [ Continue Reading ]

Hot fashions are not found only in NY during fashion week.  London fashion week produced one hell-of-a-line from Greek designer Ioannis Dimitrousis.  His latest for Fall 09 incorporates great materials, stitching knits together and then detailing with some awesome metallic accents. They are dripping with tailored masculinity, hot!  He creates fantastic individual looks with very creative fabric manipulations.  And the sweetest part of the story is that he works with him mom.  Ioannis is definitely one more for the “Favorite Book”.

The Victorian era is one of my favorites.  It burst at the seams with industrial innovations, such at public sewage upgrades and electricity.  While aristocrats over indulged in arts, gambling, and prostitution, middle class  populations boomed and with that brought poverty, the invention of housing “flats” and “slums”, and child labor. Charles Anastase is a [ Continue Reading ]

mishka hallelujah 2009 ss lookbook 7 Mishka 2009 Spring/Summer LookbookMishka’s 09 Spring/Summer line is here.  We see awesome bold spring colors mixed with classic Mishka cuts as well as some new cuts and sew pieces.  The line is primarily focused for women’s wear but is complimented with some great guy pieces.  Mishka’s looks have always been for the fashionista who declares individuality, adhering to a style of “It’s my party and I’ll wear what I want to” aesthetic.  These images from their latest lookbook glorify the past for Mishka and excite the future for the brand.  I’m really diggin’ some of the guys’ outer wear.

mail 5 266x400 Hyden YooSpring/Summer 2009 looks by Hyden Yoo.  They are cute, fresh, and very wearable.  He is very conscious about his consumer and how they feel in the outfits.  He picks very touchable and hugable fabrics and pays obsessive attention to cut and fit.  He refers to this SS 09 line as “Wall Street Banker meets Brooklyn Hipster”.  I’m really loving the wool-blend metallic cardigan.

needles spring summer 2009 06 295x400 NeedlesI feel like I’m sitting on needles when I look at this collection.  Makers of Engineered Garments have created a new line called Needles.  This is the Spring/Summer 09 collection.  I think they are throwing in Fall and Winter with the looks as well, maybe getting the season over with.  Aside from the obvious issues with this line( form less, grossly modeled, and hurts like a hangover to look at), I’m going to point out something that could be over looked.  [ Continue Reading ]

Yuichi Kuroda is the founder of Tokyo based label, Lad Musician.  His designs are rock-glam, with thigh-hugging skinny jeans and tight tops, it’s catering to a Japanese body image trend that “thin men are in”.  Essentially, if you want to be fashionable, you need to be as thin and tall as possible.  On the west coast, we sometimes use the terms ‘Emo’ and ‘Rock Glam’ ubiquitously together, and this look epitomizes that.   “Cocksucker Blues” and “The Rolling Stones” are two labels that Yuichi Kuroda has christened some of his lines.  Lol, Cocksucker Blues,  friggin’ genius branding, it has my thumbs up simply for being a hilarious name.
