Introducing… Twain

March 26th, 2009

Hello and bonjour.

Originally kicking up dirt on a farm north of Edmonton (my first publication was in an agricultural rag), I now live in Montreal’s Mile End, where rent is cheap, the french is free, and catching Leonard Cohen with a bagel in his mouth is priceless.  Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy the blog.

Introducing, Melissa.

My name is Melissa. I grew up in Newfoundland, a little island off the east coast of Canada, and relocated to Montreal a few years back. I am part writer, part circus performer, part social worker, part musician, part dancer, part world traveler and, yes, part blogger.  My favorite colour is gray, I’m vegetarian, and I drink coffee like only a true addict can. All of these parts come, mostly harmoniously, together, to form me. I hope you enjoy my posts.

Introducing… Schultz

Schultz is my last name. It sounds Jewish, but it’s actually German, which can sometimes make introductions awkward. I’m in Montreal. You should probably consider living here; it’s cold nine months of the year but you can buy alcohol at 18 and the government will still pay for a new liver. I’ll be loitering around for a little while – I hope we can all become great friends.

Introducing… Sirrah

March 5th, 2009

Hi everyone,
Unless you’ve read Shakespeare’s plays, you probably haven’t seen the word “sirrah” before. It’s obsolete now, but it used to be a derogatory way of referring to somebody. Something like “Bring us some drinks, sirrah, and make it snappy.”  Not that I could ever look down on anyone who brings me drinks.
Plucking an insulting word off the linguistic scrap heap and making it my own just felt right to me.  I hope to be your sirrah, now and always.
Happy reading! Welcomes, Christina

I’m Christina, a muser. Always smiling. I love all things that are slightly off, the arts, good literature, the deceptively superficial and profound, turbulence, dance, beauty, whatever that means, and the written word. Legal Assistant by day. Writer at all other times. Thrilled to be here!
