Jasper Goodall’s solo gallery show Poster Girl is a commentary on the fine line between fetishism, fantasy and reality, expressed through shiny latex, dripping goo and acrylic body-masking cutouts.  The titles of his prints — Bad Bambi, Pink Polish, Crude Oil, Medusa, Tigress and Evil Mickey — entice our curiosity and give us an inkling of what is about to come. mcqueen 420x0 285x400 RIP Alexander McQueen (1969 2010)

Perhaps you’re not really into fashion, and in all honesty you might not care. However, February 11th is a sad day in the art world, because it marks the day we lost the fashion Titan Alexander McQueen. [ Continue Reading ]

noble webster 06 416x400 Shadow Art by Tim Noble and Sue WebsterIntroducing Tim Noble and Sue Webster, they make shadow art… They are artists based in England. They are associated with the post-YBA generation of artists emerging after the Young British Artists of the 1990s I do not really know where to begin to describe the feeling I got when I first saw this. In no way am I trying to get emotional here, but in my opinion the concept and [ Continue Reading ]

Ben Thomas

His likes include short ruffled skirts (not on him) and Barack Obama. His dislikes include hangovers and people who don’t answer emails…. I suppose it doesn’t matter what his likes and dislikes are as long as Ben Thomas still pumps out the awesome digital photography.

Robert BradfordIt’s official.  My love of all things puppies has been solidified by artist Robert Bradford!  Born in London, England and obtaining a B.A in painting at Ravensbourne College of Art in Kent and an M.A. in Film at the Royal College of Art, London, Bradford discovered his knack for creating sculptures out of odds and ends when he found a box of his children’s discarded toys in his studio. The toys themselves interest me in their own right as mini sculptures by unknown and uncredited artists. Mostly I use the toys abstractly as forms with which to build muscle bone or internal or external organs but all types of human pursuits can be referred to and represented through them – things loved or hated – things used and carried as tools etc etc.-Robert Bradford [ Continue Reading ]

Florence and the Machine

OBSESSED. I heard a remake of a song that I love called “You’ve Got the Love” while I was shopping at the mall. As soon as I got home, I googled and found… Florence and the Machine. A downloaded album later and I have found my newest musical obsession. Check out the video. Please fall in love with them, support them, bring them to the US.

James RoperWould I be off in making the assumption that artist James Roper might be a bit a boob guy? It’s all very American Beauty except instead of measly rose petals in Roper’s world when the girl opens up her top you get an explosion of all the colors of the rainbow. I know that’s what happens when I get naked. [ Continue Reading ]

BachHave you ever seen the Disney movie Fantasia? Actually I wouldn’t even call it a movie, but rather a musical animation experience. If you haven’t I’ll let you in on a little secret of my childhood: it was awesome. It’s all of the staples of the classical music cannon set to trippy animation experiences. If one of those were to come to life I would imagine it would look something like what happened this summer in Manchester, England when Zaha Hadid Architects created a brand new chamber music hall inside the Manchester Art Gallery for a limited performance of the solo works of Johann Sebastian Bach by a gaggle of internationally acclaimed musicians.  [ Continue Reading ]
