
My first thought when I got a look at Conway’s work was, “oh, god. Here is clearly a man who loved video games, Manga, and/or Dungeons and Dragons as a teenager, and never really got over it. Now he’s an artist, what is the world coming to?”
Upon closer examination, I still partially hold to my initial reaction. That said, Daniel Conway (aka Arcipello) does have some pieces that make interesting and unique statements. Much of his work is quite detailed and emotionally-driven. And while some of his work remains in the cliché world of a man who never truly got over his teenaged obsessions, a small portion of it is still worth a review.
