Adapt-Studio, Inc. is a multidisciplinary creative boutique founded by J. Byrnes in 2003. They emailed to let us know about their newly redesigned website and online store. I took a look and liked what I saw. They do it all when it comes to creative outlets, name and identity / logo development, packaging, environmental graphics, website design and illustration. Some cool t-shirts for sale too. Check it out…

So here’s the only piece I was able to break off from Ryan Robinson’s kitkat bar, but check the site and admire the milk-chocolatey outside, crispy cookie inside of the Chicago-based photographer’s work.

As for the building itself, it’s basically the highest open floor plan you can imagine. It’s bright, airy, and inviting inside, with three level of galleries to interest you. And the Pathfinder kiosks, where a large flat screen acts as a touchscreen offering directions to the galleries–complete with thumbnail samples of the works in each one–are the avant-garde of technology in public facilities. They’ll help you find whatever it is you want to see.

Much has been written about the Nichols Bridgeway, an aerial walkway from the Museum’s third floor into Millennium Park. And it’s certainly a cool experience, being able to see the city and the lake from such a vantage point at the same time. One more point in the new facilities’ favor.

The art itself is stellar, with Picasso, Pollack, de Kooning, and lots more on display. There’s even some sort of room devoted to videos of clown torture, which I’m still kind of shaking my head at. But that’s what art can do, right?

Some of the pieces and the artists will be fodder for posts in the future. But for now, I can tell you that it’s a feast of modern art that probably can’t be found in too many other places on earth.  It’s well worth a look.

Chicago-based artist Nick Cave thinks “the familiar must move towards the fantastic.  I want to evoke feelings that are unnamed, that aren’t realized except in dreams.”  His recent “Soundsuits” exhibit at the Jack Shainman Gallery in New York manifests this movement, with complex and fantastical results.

But here in Chicago, the center of the Obama universe, a recently-opened display takes us back to those days. Officially Unofficial opened this week at the Chicago Tourism Center (which doubles as the downtown Hot Tix outlet) and runs through May 31. Admission is free, and picture taking, as far as I could tell, was not a problem. I got plenty of cool shots, but couldn’t figure out how to post them all here. Maybe I’ll figure it out later. But if you’re in Chicago, go and see it.

The “Recovery” logo calls to mind a “T and O” map from centuries ago. And what the Tiger logo lacks in complexity, it makes up for by reminding us of the most powerful athlete in the world. The new president could have done a lot worse than that.
