jackson 300x400 OFF THE WALL: Richard Jackson

A mere glimpse into the world of California contemporary artist,  Richard Jackson was all it took to command my attention, and at times, to render me utterly speechless.   This man has certainly not allowed himself to be pinned  down to one design aesthetic; but instead has  immersed himself in a world of projects which are at times fraught with disturbing images or humor or are just plain over the top size-wise, or all three.

Richard labels most of his art as theoretical, as he personally does not have the funds or the facilities to pull off most of the concepts he’s contrived.     Fortunately, [ Continue Reading ]

05 18Dks 2 585x379 Jim Denevan the earth artist...Jim Denevan is an artist based out of Santa Cruz, California who has a fascination with earth. Jim travels around the globe creating large scale pieces drawing on sand, earth and ice. Looking at his work I can’t help but wonder how similar some of it is to crop circles, not that I am accusing him of drawing them, it’s the aliens of course or two English old farts or who cares?

We are constantly dealing with stress. Work, school, family, people you don’t know, the economy, you name it… they all have something wonderful in common (maybe not so wonderful after you think about it), but they can make us incredibly nervous at time. Mark Licari has found a humorous way of portraying our hectic nature, and they’re sculptures titled “Nervous Men”. [ Continue Reading ]

Her music has been featured on the ABC television drama Grey’s Anatomy as well as CBS’s How I Met Your Mother, MTV’s The Real World and her latest release is the remake of a very popular TI song called “Whatever You Like“. I think this remake of the song is amazing and the video is even cooler! The video is shot in a sex toy store where Anya works on the cash register and eventually gets approached by an admirer who is Andy Botwin from Weeds! Love that show and love him! Just watch the video! [ Continue Reading ]

Light-Paint Piano by Ryan Cashman

April 7th, 2009

This is short and sweet, but definitely not easily done. Filmed at night with the I-5 and San Diego skyline in the background with the Canon Rebel camera using 20-30 second exposures, Ryan Cashman managed to capture this cute little piano player by moving his green LED keychain during each exposure frame. Lots of work has been put into this 35 second stop motion. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. See more of his work after the continuation. [ Continue Reading ]
