According to the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums, Spring time brings lots of new faces in the zoo and I am not talking about visitors. There are about 600 million people passing through the gates of over 1,300 parks around the world and spring time is usually the time when the newborns are revealed. There is a reason 2009 has been named as the “year of the gorilla” by the United Nations, the reason of course is the gorilla baby boomers… If you ever seen a gorilla in real life you will stand there stunned, visually examining it and being in disbelief of how much this animal resembles us. Of course 2009 brings us newborns from all different kinds of animals around the world, this gallery is dedicated to them… [ Continue Reading ]

It’s a real shame when people’s rights are hijacked by a military government and in result the innocent die, this was my first thought when Hamas took power in Gaza.  To even have a slight understanding of this conflict, it is very important to know the history of Israel and the Palestinian people, otherwise you should stay away from all the media reports because they are all biased.  There have been mistakes made by both sides, and in majority, both sides try to avoid conflict as much as possible simply because they are each other’s neighbors and are sick and tired of blood being shed over hate.  But as always, there are a few bad seeds who are able to change, influence and intimidate the innocent.  Here are some amazing close images of the conflict. The recent high water in Venice, Italy reached a depth of 1.56 meters (5 ft, 1 in.)  Its the deepest flood in 22 years, and the fourth highest flood level in recent history.  Its a bit weird looking at these pictures, reminds me of one of those “end of the world” movies where cities are over flooded.  But this could be a good thing, tourists get to see Venice like never before, meanwhile locals get to take off work. Sometimes we as people forget that we share this world with thousands of different species.  They all contribute to the world as much if not more than we do.  It’s all part of the life here on earth and I am glad to find out that we have a day set aside to show appreciation to our little/big neighbors. October 4th is the official World Animal Day.  Here are some pictures to feed the inspiration – [ Boston.com ]
