Nicole Introduction…

March 29th, 2010

I am Nicole. I don’t really like talking about myself, so I’m not sure how well I’ll do in the blogging department. I currently reside in New Haven, CT on the third floor apartment inside a big house with my cat. We often lounge around together and read (I love English literature), write and browse Pitchfork. I like syntax; I like forming sentences. I like prose. I hope that by posting on this blog I’ll be a little more well-rounded and “with it,” so to speak. I’m pretty hell-bent on making sure I’m not going to be boring. This concludes my official “sup i’m here” post.

ada 452x400 Alright artisticthings fans, lets get interactive

Every day, I come on this site, and there’s always something cool to check out. All of you people out in internet-land are getting the low down on everything cool in the visual arts, music, film, technology… everything under the cyber sun. Still, there is something that’s been bugging me in the back of my mind for the past couple of weeks. Two things, actually. First of all, and it’s unsurprising on a website that prides itself on visual content, is the short shrift given to literary works. There’s pieces here and there, but writers have definitely been given the short end of the stick. Secondly; when I came aboard, I mentioned in my introduction piece that it would be my goal to get to know our writers and readers. To an extent, this is happening. But I’d like to speed up the process.

loser goes first Worthwhile Things: Dan Kennedy, Loser Goes First

A good number of the books I read during college were boring, tedious collections of words and pages that quickly found their way into a recycling bin or onto some dark shelf never to be heard from again upon completion. Dan Kennedy‘s Loser Goes First was no such book.
