New York’s Internation Center of Photography is currently having an exhibition on Richard Avedon a world famous fashion photographer. (May 15-September 6) Avedon did not conform to the standard technique of taking fashion photographs, where models were emotionless and indifferent to the camera. Instead, Avedon showed models full of emotion, smiling, laughing, and, many times, in action. He has worked for such magazines as Life, Harper’s Bazaar, The New Yorker and Vogue. If you are in New York any time during the exhibit do not miss it- this will be the most comprehensive exploration to date of Avedon’s fashion photography. The exhibition will feature more than 200 works by Richard Avedon, spanning his entire career, and will include vintage prints, contact sheets, magazine layouts, and archival material from 1944-2000.
