Rachel Timmins is Metal – er, Sortof.
Rachel Timmins is a metalsmith and also what I would call a textile artist. In her own words, she makes, ”small, mutated objects out of non-ferous metals (ie: sterling silver, copper, brass and gold) and fiber (mostly merino wool). I also make wearable (yet not practical) jewelry out of those materials.” You can also see lots of amazing work she does made out of different fabrics and textiles, like Lobster Worm or Second Skin that are pictured below. My favourite in this gallery is probably the mosquito tea cozy that has some of her own blood in it!
To learn more about the amazingly talented Rachel Timmins, you can read this interview with Rachel on BMEzine.com from December. To see more of her work, check out her profile on CraftHaus, read her blog ‘don’t stay static‘ or buy some of her work from her Etsy shop, Oddly Wearable Designs.
