Packing Tape Art
This is one of those “wth?” things. How did Mark Khaisman know that his medium of choice was packing tape? At what point did he wake up in the morning, do a nice, long stretch and say “Ah, yes. I think today I’m going to create beautifully detailed pictures using backlit packing tape on acrylic panels?”
Well, whatever his inspiration, he was onto something. Let’s not question a beautiful thing. Instead, we can talk about it. I mean, come on. Take a good look at this picture. It’s got this inspired, pulpy film noir feel to it. It reminds me of that scene from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty where the Prince is about to kiss Aurora. The picture might be made out of packing tape, but you can still see the wonder and adoration in this guy’s face. It’s the kind of love that most of us would die for, and it’s as poignant in Mark Khaisman’s packing tape depiction as it could be in any photo or painting.
