NEW ORLEANS ARCOLOGY HABITAT
This is a little to hard to believe, but I’ll go with it.
Overflowing with design and architectural challenges, the New Orleans Arcology Habitat (NOAH) is a “trigone” structure that promises all-in-one elements of a city—while never having to leave the building—habitat for 40,000 residents in residential units, school system, commercial, retail, hotels, casinos, parking, and green public works facilities... One would think that they couldn’t pack more ideas into one building… but then they had to go and add solar panels, water turbines, wind turbines, fresh water recovery, and a passive solar glazing system. Imagine being the building next door—Jealous!
Designed specifically for New Orleans, E. Kevin Schoper has decided to treat common-day architecture with the flair of Jupiter… Or perhaps he’s seen the movie Contact (staring Jodi Foster circa 1997) a few too many times… Regardless, an admirable presentation of creative minds trying to change — or update a city still looking to re-find its personality among a vast restructuring. Window Washers, gear up!
