The Murmur Study. An art collaboration and installation by Christopher Baker, Marton Andras Juhasz, and the Kitchen Budapest. The study looks at the electronic conscience of of Twitter and Facebook.
30 thermal printers are programmed to monitor status and message updates containing hundreds of variations of words such as grrr, argh, meh, oooo, ewww, and hmph. They are printed out in a continuous waterfall stream of paper texts. The idea came from the notion that these electronic messages, often personal and emotional, are being archived by these corporations. The future use of the archives is unknown.
