Moonwatch and the Mind/Body/World Connection as I See it
Moonwatch is an innovative concept of time that was created to link a cycle between people’s emotional states and the cycle of the moon. It assists those who wear it in understanding their own moods in relation to their daily lives on earth. The Moonwatch is intriguing because so many aspects of our lives and the world around us have been established as correlated to the moon, including fertility, agriculture, the patterns of the tide, and even the behaviour of humans.
I think our connection to the earth, to the world around us, and to nature is important. When we study the internal self (through yoga in my case) in relation to the physicality of the body and to the world around us, it grounds us and creates a mind/body connection. It seems to me that knowing how the mind and body react to the phases of the moon can only serve to better our knowledge and understanding of ourselves. And isn’t that what we’re all after? An understanding of the intricate workings of our own jumbled up selves? An understanding of how to create better, healthier selves?
I say, amen to that.
