First thought? Portfolio 1 has this splashy (and, at times, gyrating) watercolour feel about it. Portfolio 2 has these swirling graphic women I love immediately. Second thought? Where do I get those custom shoes? What’s not to love? Swirls, scrawls, skulls—these sneakers are artwork for the feet ( though I must admit the white canvas they’re on makes me a little nervous about wearing them—if you’re supposed to wear them, that is.) Toys, guitars, skateboards—all adorned with the scrawls of Monsieur Qui (French illustrator and street artist) and I can’t take my eyes off them.
Miss Sugar Cane is astounding. The textures of her dress make it seem silky and touchable, her flower tattoo just fits (it fades—not something that pops off the page), because she gives off this vibe that says she’s alluring and dangerous. Maybe he should call her Scylla.
If he ever creates a graphic novel, I’m there.
