Mia Liu’s use of admission tickets from Guggenheim Museum to make artwork is innovative and earth-friendly. (Why not recycle to make art?) As I’m reviewing and reading about more pieces that are made from recycled items, I’m thinking there’s a major slant in the direction of eco-friendly art (and I like it-how cool is it to beautify the earth and please the eyes of so, so many people?)
Guggenheim tickets aren’t her only medium; it seems she’s a paperwork artist with a flair for origami. However, I did spot some drawings she made with pen, ink and acrylic on paper that are so soothing in a lovely, swirling, pink lemonade kind of way (makes you want to sink into them, like a pretty field of flowers.)
I think her work evokes peacefulness; for her shows, I imagine a whole gallery filled with very relaxed, silent people wandering about in tranquility.
