Justin Reed – Art for the Movie Buff
His portfolio spans a vast timeline of pop culture’s favorite films, from early classics like Casablanca, to the cult classics of the 80′s and 90′s like Jaws, Edward Scissorhands, Fight Club and American Psycho. He tops it off with portraits of our favorite characters in classics-to-be The Dark Night and There Will Be Blood. Also sprinkled in his collection are themed collage-like pieces, such as 80′s Super Heroes featuring Rambo and The Terminator amongst many others. His portraits of pop icons aren’t too shabby either. (See awesome ones of Dave Grohl, Eddie Veder and William Shatner below.)
While Reed accepts commissions for custom paintings, it’s on a limited basis, has a 6-8 month waiting list and can cost a minimum of $300. For a more immediate and affordable fix, visit the APW‘s Sketch It Out gallery show in New York City from April 6th to the 27th, where for $150 you can walk away with one of the Vermont native’s 5.5 x 9 in. acrylic-on-cotton paper renditions of either Taxi Driver, The Godfather, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Casablanca or Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
