Jay-Z’s Death Of Auto-Tune Official Video
June 29th, 2009

D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune) the lead single of Jay-Z’s eleventh studio album, The Blueprint. The song made its world premiere on the New York radio station Hot 97 on June 5. Its lyrics address the overusage of the Auto-Tune in the music industry. The song samples “In the Space” by French film composers Janko Nilovic and Dave Stuckey. The bridge is inspired by Steam’s “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye“. I think this is one of the boldest steps being taken by Jay-Z as he challenges all the musicians that are using and abusing the auto-tune (ex. T-Pain). Best parts of the video is when over used things in rap are being blown up to pieces. I was never a big fan of Jay-Z but I give him credit for coming out like this.
