It’s not the size of the boat, it’s the motion of the ocean

Ok, so this may very well be the most boring GD video you’ve watched this week, and I know it’s rather lengthy, but you have to give Reuben Margolin props– he’s just as bored as you are, but what do YOU have to show for it? Surely not kinetic sculptures, simple fools!

This sexy beast has been studying Fine Arts since ’98 and has impressive training in painting and, be still my heart, English lit *replace eyes with little cartoon hearts*.  And then it all started going downhill. Savagely thrusting aside the finer things in life, Mr. Margolin began making sculptures mimicking things like water and caterpillars. But instead of saying “that’s so lame, bro,” I invite you, dear reader, to consider how fucking difficult this is to accomplish. Do you know how to create a wave with wood and pulleys and a mass of other solid objects and have them move with a fluidity that would have seemed impossible had we not seen it with our very own eyes? I didn’t think so. So stop acting like an asshole and go and build something, and then cry because it isn’t as cool as this.
