I Am Gabz: Where the playful meets the downright disturbing
Can you say ‘Warhol’? Polish artist Grzegorz Domaradzk has just published a new portfolio of his drawings and paintings, and while comparing them to to the famed pop-art icon might be a stretch, it isn’t far off. However, instead of obsessing over fame, Domaradzk seems to use his subjects as fuel for an impish sense of humour, and a launching pad for his beautiful, yet slightly disturbing pieces. I won’t presume to tell you what his intentions or message is, but I encourage you to browse his sight. This portfolio is entitled “I Am Gabz,” and if you’re like me, you’ll admire his versatility just as much as you admire the work itself.
On a side note, I gotta give the guy additional credit for making the darling Ms. Winehouse look almost presentable. Sad to say her eyes look more lifelike in Domaradzk’s illustration than they do in real life, but that’s a blog post for another day…
