Hyundai Nuvis Concept-Enjoyjoy Your Car Sir
Remember the awesome movie with Wesley Snipes and Sylvester Stallone called Demolition Man? The movie featured auto-drive cars with fly-up wing doors. There’s a moment when Stallone is about to wreck the car he is driving and is voice commanding the car to “Brake!” The car malfunctions and he yells “Break now you Mickey Mouse piece of shit!!!!!!” One of the best lines of the movie:) Anyway, Hyundai‘s Nuvis concept reminds me of those cars in that movie and I look back and remember how futuristic they looked. Well now it seems those ideas and dreams are becoming our reality. The Nuvis isn’t capable of auto-drive function, but it does have those cool fly-up doors, and it’s a hybrid.
The hybrid drivetrain is set to find it’s way into the next-generation Hyundai Sonata and the cool styling of this concept is suppose to be replacing the current look of the Sante Fe. The hybrid engine is a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine with a 30-kw electric motor, it uses lithium polymer batteries, which are more durable and space efficient than nickel-metal hydride and lithium-ion. The estimated fuel ratings are 34 mpg city/35 mpg highway.
The interior is just as stellar, with a “cascading’ floor and ambient blue lighting. Seat fabric is made from 100 percent reclaimed soda bottles. AND, get this, the instrumental panel streams information throughout the cabin, giving passengers the ability to communicate to each other using Methode Electronics TouchSense Technology, linking all four seats! Why is that exciting? I dunno, it’s not practical, but it’s entirely cool!
