Heroes and Villians
In April of 2008, I was lucky enough to be in LA during a Gallery opening of, “Heroes and Villians.” My friend and LA based photographer, Roman Cho, collaborated with Tatiana Wills (another LA based photographer) and created this amazing series of intimate portraits. But who exactly are featured in these photographs?
Well each photo features, “intimate portraits of the most notable emerging and established figures in the Pop Surrealist, Graffiti and Alt-Comic Book worlds: Shepard Fairey, Gary Baseman, Friends With You, Chris Anthony, Mark Ryden, Herbert Baglione, Jaime Hernandez and others.” In all honesty I can’t say that I’m familiar with any of these artist’s work but their photos are awesome. Each portrait is extremely vibrant and has a lot of personality. Some photos are subtle, revealing a hint of insight with a simple sly smile. While others have some interesting settings and backdrops. All of which creatively and properly spotlights the artist, writer and visionary.
Well if you’re in LA this weekend get a chance to check out, “Heroes and Villains” at Beyond Eden Art Fair.
posted here are a few of my favorites out of an extensive collection.
