Free Art (for a limited time only)
Let me begin by saying there is free art all the time here at ArtisticThings. The title is referring to the kind of art that usually costs money to see.
Now that we have that cleared up, the Art Institute of Chicago is opening its new Modern Wing this weekend, and to celebrate there will be free admission from the time you read this until Friday, May 22. Considering the admission is going up to $16 for adults, this is quite a deal.
There’s just something about seeing original artworks in person. Looking at a Picasso, or a Monet, or a Degas, and trying to imagine what was going on in the artist’s mind when the work was created. The same is true of Grant Wood’s American Gothic, too.
I know this isn’t exactly the same, but some of the AIC’s collection is offered below. Enjoy.
