Flock of Seagulls..
OK, so I have to give it up for my fellow Brazilians! Not only are they exceptional soccer players, I mean football players (Let’s pretend I didn’t make that mistake!), but they are equally talented Techies! They have created one amazing design studio, located in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, that specializes in multiple areas such as digital manipulation, photo-retouch, 2D and 3D illustration, animation, web design and post production. And since it’s conception in 1998, Seagulls Fly, headed by Fabiano Feijo and Fernando Reule, has been dedicated to providing a “one stop shop for clients who seek a professional, creative, hardworking,fully-committed and enthusiastic partner.”
And can we just discuss their 2D/3D illustration? Have you ever seen work that is more sumptuous? Work that makes you want to unleash your feet from those uncomfortable Nine West Heels (Guys, lets face it, your shoes don’t even compare to the excruciating pain of 3-inch knives that jab into the bottom of your heel) and jump into a sea of vibrant colors. And as you sink deeper and deeper, the colors around you comfort and warm you, taking you to another world. A world where everything is silent and still and the only sound you can hear is the muted sound of your heartbeat. Now, I know this sounds a little crazy, but you have to admit that the their illustrations are innovative and quite remarkable. It’s almost as if your in a painting. Reminds me of Van Gogh. How about you?
Besides the illustration, the animation department creates some amazing stuff also. Take a look at this video below. Even though it’s animated, it still manages to deliver an important message flawlessly and with as much heartfelt compassion as a video created with living beings. Watch it with a tissue:
Take a look at the real video on Seagulls Fly website. The quality on the animation is amazing! It’s the third video down and it’s titled Global Warming.
Just a Destination side note:
Planning a trip to Brazil? Take my advice and visit Higienopolis in Sao Paulo, Brazil! It’s gorgeous, clean, a cross between NYC and you’re hometown in the South and it’s filled with the most delicious bakeries packing mouth watering chocolate croissants, foaming over the brim cappuccinos, and juicy ham and cheese sandwiches. Hungry, yet? And after you eat, take a stroll down the Av Paulista and visit the Art Musuem. There are plenty of unique boutiques (say that five times fast!) and bookstores which yes, have English books! It’s an awesome town, I promise! My grandma has lived there all her life and hasn’t moved yet!
