Woodkid is a stage name for Yoann Lemoine, who is a French music video director, film director, and musician. He is mostly known for his work as a music video director working with big names such as Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. Although he is well known for his work in music videos and films, his most recent endeavor is music.

On March 28, 2011, he released his first EP, called Iron EP. As for the amazing music video for the single “Iron” which you must watch below, he collaborated with English top model Agyness Deyn. The song was even featured in a trailer for Assassin’s Creed: Revelations game. On December 15th 2011, Lemoine announced that he is recording his debut album which will be named “The Golden Age”. I have checked out his EP and even though it’s not really the type of music I usually listen to, I can’t turn it off. Definitely keep an ear out for his album but for now enjoy the amazing music video he created for his first single “Iron”.

This month we lost of one the greatest costume designers ever to come out of Japan, her name is Eiko Ishioka. Eiko, being born in Tokyo 1939 was an Oscar-winning costume designer, known for her work in stage, screen, advertising, and print media, and has been called “Japan’s leading art director and graphic designer.”

Ishioka’s awards include the 1985 Cannes Film Festival Award for Artistic Contribution for her production design of Paul Schrader’s film Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters, a 1987 Grammy Award for the artwork for Miles Davis’ album Tutu, two 1988 Tony Award nominations for the stage and costume design of the Broadway play M. Butterfly, and a 1992 Academy Award for Best Costume Design for Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

She also directed the music video for Björk’s “Cocoon” in 2002, and designed costumes for the “Hurricane” tour of singer Grace Jones in 2009. Eiko was also the costume designer for the Beijing-2008 Olympics.

Her impact on the industries she worked in is simply indescribable. She was clearly an inspiration to designers around the world and her works will live on in film forever. Take a look at our photo gallery for some of her most impressive works.

Introducing The Hardkiss, the reason I am introducing them to you is because unfortunately there is high chance you have not heard of them, until now. The Hardkiss are from Kiev, Ukraine and seem to be part of the new “Ukranian music that does not suck” movement. Lead by singer Julia Sanina, their powerful sound and unique appearance is definitely something that will get your and the world’s attention. “Dance With Me” is the band’s second video, this time directed by Valeriy Bebko is a welcomed improvement from their first released video “Babylon” (which was also a great video). There isn’t much information available about these guys, so I’ll let their video and music speak for them selves…

If watch are your thing, I urge you to take check out this post. 2LMX is a new watch company created by a former head of the Geneva Patek Philippe museum Arnaud Tellier. A watchmaker by training and by inclination, Arnaud Tellier never completely broke with the workbench, always remaining in touch with watch restorers, designers, and artisans working in related fields. Over the years, a small core group of people formed, sharing many good dinners and conversations in which the talk naturally turned to watchmaking. These were a constant source of stories, ideas, criticism, new projects and new concepts. During the course of one of these friendly debates, Arnaud made the decision to design a new watch – one that would be exceptional, rare, contemporary, and meaningful.

Each 2lmx watch is entirely created and manufactured in Switzerland, and is hand finished and assembled, requiring over 1,000 hours. The 2LMX watch has a fairly unique design with a transparent crystal case. This makes it a very entertaining watch to carry as you can see all the little pieces move within the casing. The 2LMX will be produced in titanium, platinum, white gold and pink gold with black or white rubber stripes. Just so you guys know, Hanukkah is coming up and I need a watch…

Bec Wonders, if you haven’t heard of her yet, trust me she is just starting to spread her wings. She is a Swedish artist who is also a fashion designer, traveling Europe selling her clothes while finishing up high school, yep… High School. Her latest work presents her paintings combined with her photographs. It’s pretty cool as far as I am concerned, as if the inner you is trying to come out, something I battle with daily. The Lana Sutra is the result of Ravelo’s reflections on the meaning of Kamasutra (kama, pleasure;sutra, a thread which unites). Each installation is made of two plaster sculptures: two bodies embracing and covered in woollen threads in various colours, chosen from the key tonalities present in the United Colors of Benetton Fall-Winter collection, currently available in the stores. The points where the two entities meet and where the colours merge into each other, is yet again a way to symbolise how love can cancel differences and bind humanity as one. Maybe, I don’t know, but one thing I do know is that these photographs are not your ordinary nude photographs. Vadim began his career about five years ago, trying to find him self in the vast world of photography. Eventually he realized that taking pictures of animals and plants was not something he found an interest in. He found him self really enjoying taking pictures of females and yes some times they are naked. He chooses to leave all his work without titles on purpose, to not limit the viewer’s imagination. His unique eye on the female body got him into the finals of World Photography Awards 2010 in Cannes, France. Check out some of his work below and more on his website…
