Erin Wasson x RVCA: New York Fashion Week Spring 2010
September 15th, 2009

I have long been a fan of model Erin Wassons; she’s never fit the mold of the prototypical supermodel. Instead, she has retained a cool SoCal look and attitude (despite being from Texas originally), and for the last three seasons has designed a line for RVCA, a California brand known for its surf and skate style. Wasson’s line traditionally has lent itself more toward high fashion, and she did not disappoint last night at her Spring 2010 show at New York’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. While last season had a rocker chic aesthetic, this season Wasson has chosen to go with a more hippy vibe, which is similar to her own cool vintage-loving style. Danish model Freja Beha Erichsen, who is one of my personal favourites, opened the show in a pair of low slung jeans, distressed leather ankle boots and a tummy-baring top that showed off her incredible physique. The show featured a lot of low slung ripped jeans, leather, loose tops with tiny jean shorts, studs and loose tank tops with distressed leggings. All the models wore similar pairs of beat up leather boots. All in all, I really love the style. It’s functional, a little bit dirty, and quite chic.
