Ende
If a tree falls in the woods and no one hears it, does it make a noise?
And after the tree becomes “wood” does it also become something else? An airplane perhaps? A warehouse… A SUBMARINE?
Ron van der Ende… Just leave it to this guy to prove that nothing is in a singular form. Residing in Rotterdam, van der Ende is a sculptor that takes “found” wood and transforms it into wall mounted bass reliefs into all kinds of shapes, but more specifically, vehicles or transportation and buildings—All very industrial in nature, giving a certain twist to the medium. The perspectives of the reliefs are also rather engaging — not just straight out of the wall, but pointing downward or tilting up– slightly obscure. This, combined with the use of the colors and textures found in the original wood allows for the finished structures to appreciate the skill and creativity that goes into every piece.
