cristy c. road: drawings and shit

When describing Cristy C. Road’s work, my friend said, “…its like she does a lot of speed and draws for days on end. Just of, like, her friends and shit.” And, so, of course, I was hooked. I dove into her famous zine Green’Zine and read both her graphic novels, INDESTRUCTIBLE and BAD HABITS. Then I showed them to all my hardestcore metal comic geek friends… and even they liked her!
Smashing your typical skinny-white-girl narrative to pieces, Roads, a Cuban-American badass, is redefining sex, gender, and a whole bunch of other crazy queer feminist shit. She keeps it real, talking about heart break, hangovers, drug use, and anxiety. She currently resides in Brooklyn, New York where she paints, makes punk music with her band The Homewreckers, and has “a killer gas problem”.

You can see (& buy) her work on her website and on the covers of various punk CDs across North America. I also sport one of her patches on the backpack I lug everywhere.
