alex asher daniel 03 369x400 Coloring Catastrophe I can’t decide if the work of Alex Asher Daniel is genius or juvenile. His sketching is beautiful and I love the expression and attitudes he gives to the figures in this series. He is stickler for detail and shading which is all well and good– but what is up with the coloring? I’m a firm believe that there is no such thing as “getting” art- you either respond to it or you don’t. 50% of me is responding to this and the other 50% is saying “I think my two-tear-old nephew got a hold of some brilliant artist’s sketches and fucked the whole thing up with his Crayola’s”. I like his beginnings, I just think he could have done something more interesting with it.

Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it’s a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from.
