Chronic Art – smoke’m if you got ‘em or make art out of it
Cliff Maynard, a Pittsburgh-based tattoo artist is the mastermind behind Chronic Art. You are most likely thinking there is some kind of a double meaning, not at all, this art is really made out of Chronic! Each of these master pieces are put together by bits of roach ends. Cliff had the opportunity to explore the arts and clearly took his cue from the great mosaics of the past. “I was studying mosaics in school. I just remember sort of making this connection in my head between the tiles and roach papers.” Little bits of paper– otherwise thrown away– cut into delicate shapes and arranged together in such a way as to form a true work of art. The paper does not smell, it sits around for a while until he starts work on it where at the end he coats it with an invisible layer of common “school” glue. Depending on the size, an 8×10 portrait can take up to 70 hours of work and can run you from $1,000 to $10,000. In my opinion if you are a big of Mary Jane and have the loot, this is worth every penny.
