the roots 585x375 Goodie Reminder : The Roots You Got MeThe Roots are a Grammy Award-winning, American hip hop band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They are famed for beginning with a jazzy, eclectic approach to hip hop which still includes live instrumentals. Over the years they have generated a great deal of critical acclaim and influenced numerous rap and R&B acts. On March 2, 2009, they became the house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. I watch Jimmy Fallon almost every day and they do an amazing job. But lets go a few years back and revisit The Roots that I fell in love with. There is a new album in the works, planned to be released in 2010 called “How I Got Over”, but meanwhile enjoy the video after the break…

146817 VmqOtI.jpeg 585x390 Ill Be Gone Mario Basanov video chills you outMario Basanov is a Lithuanian producer, slowly but surely heading for world domination. Still in his twenties but solid ten years of production experience. House, Broken Beat, New Jazz, R&B – are just some of the things he has dabbled in. “I’ll be gone” is his new video, directed by Rimantas Lukavicius, some can see it as boring and uneventful but I like it a lot. It’s definitely one of the most unique videos I have seen in a while and I love how chill the song is…

cash 585x390 Goodie Reminder: Johnny Cash HurtEven though this song was originally written by Nine Inch Nails, I feel that when Johnny Cash covered it and released this video, it solidified the song as a classic which our children’s children will listen to. The video takes you through Johnny’s life as an entertainer, the ups and downs, the good times and bad. This video is simply amazing, you do not need to be a Nine Inch Nails or Johnny Cash fan to like it, just listen to the lyrics and you will instantly build your own relationship with this song. rudolph and clarice Vixen to Rudolph: Fame is Sexy

The image above was taken from the Arthur Rankin and Jules Bass’s 1964 classic film  ”Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”. You may have heard it before.  The doe ( female deer) with the long lashes and pretty bow is actually named Clarice and is not Vixen at all, as the title of this particular blog suggests, but thats really besides the point. While this classic which was inspired by the poem “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” and the coloring book “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, has a good message and a happy ending, it is the song that is sung, which has no relation in particular to the movie, that I have issue with.
