Michael Phelps won eight gold medals in the pool. He is more popular than air and boobs. The world is in love with him.

Here’s the thing… He won eight gold medals in the pool. Swimming is a recreational activity and/or a survival skill— that’s it. I live on land. We (for the most part) all do. Being a really good swimmer would be more impressive if perhaps we were mer-people or lived in the age of sea piracy, but we’re not and we don’t. So fucking cool it already with all the Phelps chatter. He’s really, really good at a marginally useful thing.
