screenhunter 07 apr 03 1607 585x314 Out with Borat, In with Bruno!

If you have not seen Borat, please do not read this, actually close the window all together!  Ever since I saw Borat and what Sacha Baron Cohen did with his comedy show Ali G, I truly thought a new form of comedy has been invented. It’s raw, it’s real, many times it’s very uncomfortable to watch and it’s hillarious! Bruno is the second most popular character Sacha portrays, from the Ali G show. Bruno is a fictional character who is a homosexual  claiming to be a reporter from an Austrian television station and interviews unsuspecting guests about topics such as fashion, entertainment, celebrities and homosexuality. The movie has already been rated NC-17, so I am sure there will be plenty of raunchy hillarious scenes… The film is coming out on July 10, 2009. Watch the trailer after the continuation…

0 Spike Jonze vs. The Skaters

Director Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, the upcoming Where the Wild Things Are) wants to kill skateboarders.

Don’t ask me why, but the Rockville, Maryland filmmaker who got his start as a wildly imaginative music video creator and skate film director is now intent on destroying the entire punk-on-wheels community. This video is evidence. [ Continue Reading ]

“Signs”, a new short film by Australian director Patrick Hughes, stands as proof that evocative and heart-felt stories can be told in as little as twelve minutes. The film, which will be shown in the upcoming Schweppes Short Film Festival is beautifully told with music and action in the place of any dialogue. Appropriate considering the main theme of the film is the means we use for communication. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

batbus05 Batman Returns with Batbus Ad Campaign

When was the last time a superhero flew past your bus window? It’s a comic geek’s dream come true – and now, an ad campaign. ZDF German Television is using tour buses in Hamburg, Germany to advertise – that’s right – Batman. A figurine of the infamous superhero is attached to the outside of the bus, and as speed increases, the airstream lifts Batman to the level of the passenger window, as though he were flying in the distance. Advertisers seem to have neglected to notice that the original Batman character, unlike most superheros, does not possess any super-powers – including the ability to fly. Oops! [ Continue Reading ]

david bowie How To: David Bowie Makeup
I love old school David Bowie and the associated experimental makeup. I randomly came upon this awesome tutorial video on YouTube on how to apply a Bowie-esque look. This particular feathered eye look is inspired by the 1980s fantasy film Labyrinth starring the one and only Mr. Bowie. [ Continue Reading ]

tunnel Oh, Also...

New thing we’re trying out around here: the link-post (or link dump if you’re going to be crude about it.) Everything here is 100% AT approved.

- GOOD Magazine is a pretty solid source of socially-conscious writing, and they’ve got a great piece on the “Urban Cowboys” who illegally explore the tunnels of the world’s greatest cities. (GOOD)

- I used to know the words to Where the Wild Things Are better than I knew the names of close family members, so I’m incredibly excited for the Spike Jonze adaptation, which has a new poster out. It’s over at Pajiba, which is possibly my favourite website of all time. (Pajiba)

- Paul Neave has turned web design into an art form. His creations are simple, but they’re also immensely inspired. He’s created a 3-D virtual dandelion that you can blow on through the mike of your computer. It’s pretty incredible. (Neave)

- Some Welsh farmers recreated the Mona Lisa with sheep with light-packs on their backs. It’s an Android’s dream. (DarraghDoyle)

- Adam Buxton (who has a great show with Joe Cornish on BBC 6Music) created this video for the release of Radiohead’s In Rainbows. It’s not very topical, but I had to share it. [ Continue Reading ]

Aside from obliterating any movie poster you’ve ever had, Justin Reed‘s paintings capture the core of the most memorable movie characters in some of the greatest films of our time.

His portfolio spans a vast timeline of pop culture’s favorite films, from early classics like Casablanca, to the cult classics of the 80′s and 90′s like Jaws, Edward Scissorhands, Fight Club and American Psycho. He tops it off with portraits of our favorite characters in classics-to-be The Dark Night and There Will Be Blood.  Also sprinkled in his collection are themed collage- [ Continue Reading ]

I get a subscription for Interview Magazine, and last month they had an article on exiled and famous director Roman Polanski. In the article he talked about life, his ongoing battle with law, and the following video campaign that he has directed. Polanski was commissioned by an Italian artist Francesco Vezzoli to make his latest project, a commercial and an ad campaign for a fake perfume “Greed”.

Two days ago, I had a chance to speak to an amazing person. Brandon Bond, world-renowned tattoo artist, savvy businessman — and someone who has dedicated his not inconsiderable celebrity to rescuing those, whom our society has deemed unfit to so much as exist.

I am talking about pit bulls. And to a lesser extent, Michael Vick.
