I can longer muster enthusiasm for fall collections. I’m beyond through with the season. That being said, I don’t think anyone would laugh or point at you or make unkind comments about your manner of dress if you were to sport the threads in Richard Chai‘s Fall-Winter 09 collection. And if by chance you’re into somber colors and have a thing for plaids all the better as the collection is rife with them.

mishka hallelujah 2009 ss lookbook 7 Mishka 2009 Spring/Summer LookbookMishka’s 09 Spring/Summer line is here.  We see awesome bold spring colors mixed with classic Mishka cuts as well as some new cuts and sew pieces.  The line is primarily focused for women’s wear but is complimented with some great guy pieces.  Mishka’s looks have always been for the fashionista who declares individuality, adhering to a style of “It’s my party and I’ll wear what I want to” aesthetic.  These images from their latest lookbook glorify the past for Mishka and excite the future for the brand.  I’m really diggin’ some of the guys’ outer wear.

Believe it or not there was once a time when people looked forward to air travel. They dressed for it and talked almost as excitedly about the thrill of flying as they did where they were going. That was the 50′s and 60′s. I’m sure this is true because I saw it on an episode of “Mad Men”. Nowadays however it’s all sweats and cheap luggage and a rush to get through security checkpoints.

Samsonite’s Black Label does its part to bring some of the refinement back to travel; witness the label’s present collaboration with the famed design team of Viktor & Rolf. The new luggage series is available in either a rather retro looking red or blue aeroplane motif or traditional black. Rapture! One less reason to lament flying, perhaps.

Blancpain releases their next standard-setting beauty.  The 500 Fathoms.  It’s style and design are light and handsome, with a 48 mm-diameter titanium case.  At the same time, it has a randy performance quality, allowing you to dive 1000 meters into the depths thanks to it’s helium decompression valve.  I’ve always been turned on by divers, now I have even more reason to be.

What do Mayan head dresses, contemporary paintings, grandma’s dressing table, and decay have in common?  Absolutely nothing, unless you are Noel Stewart Millinery.  These are just a few things that he draws inspiration from when creating such fierce head accessories.  Each hat is divinely unique and carries it’s own personality.  You may be able to find some of his collections at Barney’s New York.  Take a stroll through his other collections.

Breitling Navitimer has been making exquisite time pieces since 1884.  To celebrate their 125th anniversary, they are releasing two models: 2,009 stainless steel pieces, pictured here, and  only 125 18k rose gold pieces. To learn more about the brilliance of their timepieces, visit this link to watch a video about Breitling technology.  And buyer beware, you can not buy a Breitling timepiece online, they are only sold at certain retailers.  If you do buy one online, it is either a fake or a second hand watch of uncertain origin.

mail 5 266x400 Hyden YooSpring/Summer 2009 looks by Hyden Yoo.  They are cute, fresh, and very wearable.  He is very conscious about his consumer and how they feel in the outfits.  He picks very touchable and hugable fabrics and pays obsessive attention to cut and fit.  He refers to this SS 09 line as “Wall Street Banker meets Brooklyn Hipster”.  I’m really loving the wool-blend metallic cardigan.

whereabouts spring summer 2009 06 Whereabouts Spring/Summer 09

Life is a series of learning experiences. No matter how much you know there will always be more to learn. I think of myself as being fairly well-informed when it comes to men’s fashion, yet I’d never heard of the Japanese label Whereabouts until they were previewed for a second time on the selectism website. What was once my folly is now my gain. The label seems to specialize in superb, easy fitting and finely detailed casual wear. The denim jacket in their spring/summer collection is one of the best and most interesting I’ve seen in years.
