gregory euclide 02 428x400 Tear it Up. Artist Gregory Euclide is turning modern art upside down. And inside out. And a little to the left. The Minnesota based artist was influenced by growing up in Wisconsin surrounded by natural landscape which you can clearly see in his work (in a more abstract sense). He clearly has a signature style, though the concept is certainly something we’ve been seeing a lot of lately- [ Continue Reading ]

The paintings of Alex Gross are absolutely stunning in a foreboding/kind of creepy way. I could stare at these for hours just trying to figuring them out and constantly finding new things. Some are so complex looking at them feels like putting together pieces of a puzzle. Aesthetically, they are absolute perfection paying attention to the tiniest details and using a beautiful range of  rich colors [ Continue Reading ]

bag 1 The Gentlemens League

Men’s fashion tends to be complacent in its easy formulaic sophistication, and sometimes truly unique items are different to find.  In a stroke of genius, The Gentlemen’s League stands for making only unique men’s accessories.  Founded in 2008 by artist Adam Razak and industrial designer Seth Stevens, the League’s only product is the Signature Bag – a custom and hand [ Continue Reading ]

rogerborg1 300x400 New Jersey in the HouseCompletely useless trivia alert: Perth Amboy, New Jersey is the birthplace of every member of Bon Jovi, save for Tico Torres. More relevant, for our purposes, is that Perth Amboy is also home to Roger Borg and his company, 419 Neon LLC. Roger studied at Dale Chihuly’s Pilchuck Glass School in Washington state, and uses this training to create neon signs and household designs. Borg’s designs are definitely cooler than anything found at IKEA.

everland hotel paris31 585x388 Quite a View of ParisIs there a more iconic structure than the the Eiffel Tower? It just says “Paris” in a way nothing else can.

For a true one-of-a-kind experience, we present “Hotel Everland.” This large pod-shaped structure was designed in 2002 by Sabina Lang and Daniel Baumann. Conceived of as a dual-use hotel and work of art, it is shown to visitors of the Palais de Tokyo during the day and [ Continue Reading ]

portman williams Roman Polanskis Greed

I get a subscription for Interview Magazine, and last month they had an article on exiled and famous director Roman Polanski. In the article he talked about life, his ongoing battle with law, and the following video campaign that he has directed. Polanski was commissioned by an Italian artist Francesco Vezzoli to make his latest project, a commercial and an ad campaign for a fake perfume “Greed”.

picture 51 The art of Visual MorphologyBack in the 80s I had this massive crush on Mallory, the older sister on Family Ties. She had this boyfriend Nick, who turned junk into art. Flash forward a quarter century, and we find David Tautrimas. This Canadian artist picks through items at garage sales (so it isn’t exactly junk) and on Ebay. He then photographs them and pieces  them together with items from the [ Continue Reading ]
