robot art Konus 5003 376x400 Robot artI’m thinking Toy Story flashbacks (cyclo) and my 4-year-old son is clamouring behind me about Konus 5003, “What does he do? Is he a Transformer?” We’re looking at Andrea Petrachi’s (a.k.a Himatic) robotic sculptures, made from old toys and recycled items. Challenging both our overwhelming need to buy things and our penchant for confronting what is natural with the technological, his work is meant to provoke thought (and perhaps action?)

deborah1 Deborah McLean...One Stylish Chef

We all know a few triple threats. Well meet a triple threat that’s a little bit different but just as cool.

Her name is Deborah McLean and not only does she cook, but she’s an interior designer (with her own company) that incorporates food into her lovely pieces of art. She’s a stylist known for turning boring rooms into something you’d only see inside of a magazine. Deborah began her career manufacturing homewards and fashion jewelry in the 80′s, and 20 years later she’s a stylist with her own company, and a chef that makes food taste delicious and look beautiful.

raccoon nook WindHilldarknew 585x271 RaccoonRaccoon Nook is an illustrator from New York whose graphic art doesn’t seem to fall into any single style. His drawings seem realistic at times but more 2D and cartoonish at times as well. What I notice right away is his use of shading on the more realistically rendered illustrations (and the lips. The open mouth seems to reoccur pretty often.) [ Continue Reading ]
