evamendesnude7 Another Corner of TimeMany of you may have already seen these photos of Eva Mendes posing for the May 2008 issue of Italian Vogue. There is something absolutely enthralling about each photo and its not just my heart trying to jump out of my throat or that weird tingle in my boxers. [ Continue Reading ]

Ashley Cecil, an activist with a paintbrush. Yes folks, you heard me right (err read me right), this here gal has made it her mission to describe the world with a paintbrush in the hopes to making it a better place. Most paintings correspond to a non-profit organization and a portion of proceeds from each painting sold will be donated to the corresponding organization. Social activism and art at their best! 01 Lepard Matutinal 324x400 Nick Lepard Face to Face

To this young artist a portrait is not a representation of somebody since it only portraits a mere moment of a person that exists through time, however, Nick Lepard definitely has the ability to intrigue a viewer with his raw portraits. He gained notoriety in Vancouver with his large-scale self-portraits and portraits of friends. Born in 1983, this Vancouver artist accomplished his first solo exhibition fresh out of school in 2008 at the Diane Farris Gallery, a gallery that has been representing Lepard since the summer of 2006 when he had his first group exhibition. 1341741260206333 Upside Down Faces Literally

Have you ever looked at a photograph and without quite realizing what it is you just know that there is something that is not quite right? You don’t know what, but there’s something a little off. Sort of like looking at a picture of an alien who is trying to impersonate a human being, all the right features are there, but there’s an intangible element that makes you question what you are looking at. I bet you’ve seen enough SciFi movies to know the feeling, right? [ Continue Reading ]

Rachel Timmins is a beautiful, modified artist. She was in college doing an undergrad in art when she says, “…I looked in the mirror and realized that no one would hire me. I was taking a introduction to jewelry course as one of my art education requirements and was really enjoying myself. Things skyrocketed from there” .

surealism paintings by vladimir kush 5 600x442 542x400 A Metaphorical Voyage

When I was looking at my leads this morning I choose to write about Vladimir Kush, because I like his name. It’s a great name, especially Kush. I was as happy as a banana swinging in a hammock of it’s own skin while repeating it over and over again this morning: Kush. Say it, it’s fun and like any word that you repeat over and over again it starts to sound like something out of this world, which is apropos when you consider what kind of artist Vladimir Kush is: a surrealist or better yet, a metaphorical realist, a monicker that he prefers. Have you ever wondered what happens to all those buses that nobody uses or are considered too old and unsafe for school use? Wonder no more. Apparently they all go to Panama! Unused and unwanted buses end up in Panama and are then converted into public transportation vehicles for urban areas. If that were the end of the story, one might say “That’s nice. They help out the less fortunate.”  This is much more than that. This is riding in style. Call it: Pimp My Ride: Panama City Edition. These neglected and worn down vehicles are ” fantastically refashioned” with designs and imagery painted on all available surfaces by  veteran artists and newbies alike. Horns, thumping music, [ Continue Reading ]

Beccy Ridsdel 04 578x400 Beccy Ridsdel operates on ceramics...If you ever wondered how it would look if you had to operate on ceramics, Beccy Ridsdel can show you. “I chose to make a series of definitely craft objects – bone china plates, mugs, jugs – and ‘dissect’ them to see what was beneath. Turns out, they are craft through and through.” [ Continue Reading ]

croadcore 392x399 cristy c. road: drawings and shit

When describing Cristy C. Road’s work, my friend said, “…its like she does a lot of speed and draws for days on end. Just of, like, her friends and shit.” And, so, of course, I was hooked. I dove into her famous zine Green’Zine and read both her graphic novels, INDESTRUCTIBLE and BAD HABITS. Then I showed them to all my hardestcore metal comic geek friends… and even they liked her!
