02badcrazysteadman 585x263 Ralph Steadman is the Mirror Man

Fall into a place where finding the demoralizing creepy is no feat at all. Where horror is a dismal lullaby and you run to find some gray door. There is a duality of man but all you see is some dark reflection that refuses you to fall asleep. So you do what most of we idiots do. You light up a cigarette. Grab a glass and sink into a cavity of mental daggers and blank chests. [ Continue Reading ]

Art…or Something like it

Archan Nair 409x400 Art...or Something like itStarring out into the vastness of the big ol’ blue sky. Your head on the grass. Some ants scouting your arm but you don’t care. Maybe you got some booze in you. Maybe pollen gets you high enough. You’re just there, laying on the ground. Counting those puffy things in the sky and watching them slowly change into something you recognize. This must be some kind of wonderful you say to yourself. Then. Suddenly. What strikes your daydreaming eye but a rainbow. Big and demanding in its presence. Just hanging there like some granny bra on a clothes line, gawking at you, almost mocking you. In all it’s colours and in all its radiance. It’s calling to you. Commanding you to gaze at it and shower it with praise and compliments of how beautiful it is. Truly a symbol of something tranquil, crafted only by something divine. You smile at it. Sure. Thinking what would happen if you tossed it into a rusty blender. [ Continue Reading ]

hm12 full Cyanide Cigarettes and Slippery SidewalksGritty like the sludge collecting behind a manhole in a city where the sun never seems to break from the grime. Where everything is bleak and the buildings are towers piercing the sky. Dark and twisted with a vibe from the twenties lingering on. There are so many sights that seem like madness melting through the concrete of social sanity. Lazy eyes squinted in cigarette smoke. The corner stone of what a metropolis is on the very inside. This is the maddening world of Bill Sienkiewicz and you should only delve in if you’re not such a sensitive pussy. [ Continue Reading ]

smirk 534x400 Beyond Photorealism When Paintings Come To Life

Make no mistake, for this image staring right at you is no photograph. This image was painted by hand, by the very talented NY based painter Alyssa Monks. Depending on the size resolution in which the image is being displayed on your computer, it is very easy to think her wonderful intricate paintings are simple photographs taken during a very intimate moment; but they reveal to be even more disturbingly real (some of her paintings can be over 6ft high!) To say Nikolai Aldunin is a master of miniatures, would be an understatement. His work leaves me speechless and that is why I decided to share it with you. Master Microminiature Aldunin Nikolai was born September 1, 1956 in the village of South Lamovatka Voroshilovgradskoy area. From his childhood he fell in love with metallurgy. Growing up he dived deeper and deeper into metal and it’s [ Continue Reading ]

handiedan fefe Handiedan!

Whether it ends up on an old music sheet, on a wooden door or clog (she’s from The Netherlands), on a photograph, or on a website page Handiedan’s handywork is gorgeous. She jumps elegantly; from collaging glamourous pinups, to haunting photos with ominous creatures, to saturating web pages with a feeling of welcome. [ Continue Reading ]

3 madame figaro 492x400 Stephane ManelStephane Manel can get away with referring to himself by only one name- Manel. Why? Because cool people are allowed to as a thorough examination of the phenomenon clearly proves. Cher, Madonna, Bono, Jay-Z, MacGyver and Rambo are just a few examples of the I’m-cool-enough-for-one-name trend. (The jury’s still out on The Edge-we’re not sure if it counts as one name or two).
