Be A Dear (Creature)
May 10th, 2010
Dear Creatures is the love child of Bianca Benitez and Rob Sinclair. The inspiration behind their Spring 2010 line is Jack Demy’s The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, a French musical film from 1964. The chic clothing pays homage to 1960s Parisian life and delivers high drama through rich textural design.
As is the case with most conceptual fashion, these threads aren’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea. One must indeed possess the doe-like figure to which Dear Creatures’ name alludes–complete with long limbs and diminutive frame–in order to rock the very short and fitted style of this clothing line. I do appreciate the concept, and especially enjoy the set styling that brings such atmosphere to the fashion. However, I would never be able to wear this line. And even if I could, I wouldn’t know for which occasion it could possibly be suitable. Hopefully, some of you dear, deer-figured creatures out there can do this whimsical line some justice.
