Seeing as how showing me colourful things is the only way to capture and actually hold my ever-wandering attention, Jo Lynn Alcorn is the coolest thing that has happened to me this week. [ Continue Reading ]

kyoko okubo 06 Makin that paper

Kyoko Okubo crafts the cutest things out of paper. The post on Booooooom! features some of her work (where I got the thumbnails below), but you can view more of her work here and still more cuteness here. I have no idea how big these pieces actually are, but I’m assuming that they’re rather small. The pieces featured on Mobilia Gallery show much more detail than the ones I have included, and are adorable. They’re called Narrative Paper Sculptures, and they’re friggin’ awesome. What’s another word for “collage”?

gabi trinkaus 1 Whats another word for collage?

Ok, so, I’m not exactly sure who Gabi Trinkaus is. That’s why if you try to click on her name, nothing happens. All I know is that she is a young Austrian artist who calls the above piece a “reconstruction” (there go my Dr. Evil fingers again). I call it a collage, and I did tons of them in the fifth grade. Dan Luvisi, you fail to please me

dan luvisi digital artist 7 310x400 Dan Luvisi, you fail to please me

Dan Luvisi is a “digital artist” (I totally just did the Dr.Evil finger quotation marks…MUAHAHAHAHAH). I really find the pieces featured on Trendland’s post on the artist to be quite base. Especially the above frame, featuring a man vaguely resembling Lenny Kravitz holding a chimp. The only remotely cool thing about this picture is that the monkey is wearing a red tie and probably contemplating taking a dump on Lenny’s forearm. The art featured in the original post is way too 80s/anime style/original Nintendo console games for my liking. Did that make sense? No? Too bad. [ Continue Reading ]

Sylvia Dell’Orto is a world-renowned makeup artist based in Milan and New York. She is a true artistic mastermind and one of my personal inspirations. She has created many looks for beauty giant Sephora, and many of her videos are available on Sephora.com. Her avant garde style and structuralist pieces create both a timeless elegance and modernity incarnate with every model she works her magic on. vixen 201x400 Mastication has never looked so colourful

The piece above is made entirely out of gum. I shall give you a moment to stare in amazement and wonder at this piece of information. The art is pure coolness, and gives one an excuse to play with their gum without getting smacked by mom. Am I giving the artist too much credit? Most probably; but I don’t care. His frames are chewy and colourful and shiny…attributes that are sure to grab my ever-wandering attention. And who to thank for this? Jamie Marraccini, of course. [ Continue Reading ]

Neil Gaiman is a truly unique creative genius, listed by the Dictionary of Literary Biography as one of the top-ten living post-modern writers. You can read his titillating bio here. For all of you haters out there who want to send me to hell for just having discovered the wonders of the Sandman series, I apologize; I know it’s been around for awhile, but better late than never! Above is a photo of Morpheus, king of the Dream realm. As if he wasn’t sexy enough already, being king of the Dreaming makes him a total groupie magnet, for sure. If he wasn’t a cartoon, he and I would have a macabre-looking litter of Endless babies by now.

01 585x389 Anne Geddes, you suck

Jan Von Holleben has brought new meaning to child pornography photography in ways which must have Anne Geddes fuming; gone are the lame-ass days of babies dressed as flowers and rabbits– that was soooo pre-Blu Ray technology, Anne. No one cares about your calendars anymore. [ Continue Reading ]
