1 465x400 Underwater Fantasy

Elena Kalis‘s Underwater Fantasy photos are full of magic. Ranging from ethereal to eerie, they each capture an instant of calm beauty that is magnetizing.

Limitless imagination and a sharp eye were definitely required to see the potential beauty behind submerging a child in water for long periods of posed time. And how she gets the little devils to comply is beyond me, but the end result is remarkable. [ Continue Reading ]

This is genius. Thomas Allen uses cut-outs from old book covers, arranged in a cinematic pop-up confection, tape, imagination, lighting , and his trusty lense to bring scenes formerly intended to play out solely in the mind of readers to life.

On April 8, 2009, NYC’s The New Museum began its new signature triennial exhibition entitled  The Generational: Younger Than Jesus. The one of a kind exhibition, which runs through July 5, 2009, is inspired by the fact that some of the  most influential art ever made has come at the beginning of young artists’ careers. For that reason it is displaying approximately 145 works from 50 artists, all under the age of 33. The artists represent a total of 25 countries and just as diversely, the mediums range from painting, to video games ,to installation, and cover everything in between.

Thomas Voorn‘s concepts, specifically those featured in his Fashion Herbarium In Practice (Coming Home Series Part 3 for Spring/Summer 2009), explore the boundaries of taste and beauty, masculinity and femininity.

As a child, he intentionally purchased ugly fabrics, which he came to love with time. That relationship is responsible for his  fascination with a “new sense of beauty,”  and a new definition for the term

“Do you ever wonder if your shadow is playing tricks on you behind your back?” Greenpoint NYC Photographer Katie Sokoler does. And she took action on the idea by carefully tracing and cutting out shadows, pasting them on random walls around town, and waiting with her camera for the money shots-when an anonymous person
