To look at the collages or montage art of Wintson Smith, you would think this young dude had rock music blaring in his garage while working on his latest piece. Quite the contrary as Winnie has been collaging since the 1970′s! Starting his art career by taking seemingly innocent images and pasting them together to form something quite different, his work has continued along this vein to today.
Being the nerd girl that I am, I can safely say that most like me would kill to have a super hero designed in their likeness, especially by an artist as particularly awesome as Will Murai. The Brazilian illustrator / comic book colorist has worked for the likes of DC Comics and Marvel Comics… Oh yeah and some magazines too.
OBSESSED. I heard a remake of a song that I love called “You’ve Got the Love” while I was shopping at the mall. As soon as I got home, I googled and found… Florence and the Machine. Being recently re-introduced to comic books by a not to be named boyfriend, I have begun to explore the artists that are in charge of the intricate and awesome illustrations/ colorings that are integral to a succesful comic. Some nay sayers would argue that comic books are not artistic… well I beg to differ. Take Jo Chen for instance. She is talented and I will scream it from the mountain top if I had a mountain near my house and the motivation to climb said mountain.
The unknown “Space Invader” as he/she calls them self, actually “invades” cities all over the world with its art. Let me explain a little… from what I understand, the Space Invader sets out to create art in various cities, taking up to two weeks to fully invade, sometimes meeting with the police in the process leaving tiled artwork, all mosaic like, in its wake.
