Another Corner of Time
Many of you may have already seen these photos of Eva Mendes posing for the May 2008 issue of Italian Vogue. There is something absolutely enthralling about each photo and its not just my heart trying to jump out of my throat or that weird tingle in my boxers. Nostalgia being a corpse and all, these photos find some way of re-injecting everything captivating of an era long since dead in this not so brave or new world. I can’t help but feel as if it has romanced me you know. Placing me in some stolen rhythm whispering lullabies into reminiscence. The pictures seeming faded dip you into a world you’re not quite sure ever existed and the drab but elegant clothing throw you to a dream of dome hairdos, garter belts, silk pantyhose and plaid furniture. Eva Mendes in her slender frame, hand sized breasts and inviting lips intoxicates anything with eyes. She shows vulnerability, confidence, enticing banter and absolute seduction. She is not a symbol of women and all that is bewitching of them but a representation of a time lost and forgotten. A testament encapsulated and epitomized in frames draped in delicate finesse and an alluring style so hypnotically melancholy that it seems almost sinfully decadent. These photos bring apparent, like a string of the sun on a ripple of water, just how captivating nostalgia is. And so much like Eva Mendes laying on her back or slanted with her legs open and breasts exposed it reminds us of something we can never really get our hands on.
